I am a 30-something trans man (he/him or they/them) who is on a make-your-own-style journey: I want to embrace fashion in a sustainable way and learn how to make and modify clothing to my own tastes. I already crochet and embroider, and am determined to learn how to sew!
On this blog, you will (eventually) find: photos of my works in progress; reviews of books I’m reading related to fashion, fiber arts, the queer community, or some combination of the above; photos of cats, because I love cats; posts about sustainability, social justice, fashion history; and more!
I have a few goals here:
- Learn how to sew
- Embrace fashion without appropriation
- Build a sustainable wardrobe out of found or thrifted material in a way that affirms my gender
- Make a record that allows other transmasc folks to learn how to make clothes or design outfits that give us a silhouette that is gender affirming
- Find and/or build a community of crafters and like-minded folks interested in any of the above topics!
I hope you enjoy your stay here!
